Color Me Rad 5K

I came across the Color Me Rad 5k Run/Walk on inlandempire.com...we always find fun events on this site.  As I was registering for the run I saw that they still needed volunteers, so we volunteered and got to attend the run for free!!  The day before the run we assisted in registration and distribution of t-shirts.  We enjoyed working with the other volunteers and coordinators who was young, quirky and most of all RAD!

The next day we did the 5k run which consisted on running thru four different color stations. Each station had volunteers that threw colored powder or squirted liquid color as we ran by. At the end of the race, as if not already covered in color, they provide everyone with a color bomb that gets thrown at the same time (pic above) - there was a vibrate energy and vibrant colors flying in the air. Everyone had a great time!! We will do this run again when it comes back to town.

Yoga Excursion offers Extra!

My yoga instructor put together a girls trip to see the taping of "The Doctor's" show in LA.  The trip included a bus ride (for 40 of us) and a stop at LA's Farmer's Market for lunch, all compliments of the show.  I had never heard of, nor watched the show that we were going to be taping, but was really looking forward to the day.  I had invited my mom to come, and was excited for a yummy, fresh lunch at Farmer's Market with her.  When we arrived, we noticed that the LA Grove was on the same block.  The bus driver announced that they film the TV show "Extra" at the Grove and they were just about to start.  The yummy lunch idea went out the door.  I had the chance to see Mario Lopez!  That sold me.  My mom & I hurried toward a direction where tons of paparazzi had gathered.  We saw a small area where the cameras were preparing to start filming so we got as close as we could to the stage, just as we got in they put a fence around us so no more people could enter this small filming area. We felt accomplished at that point.  We got in!  They brought out Nicole Richie, the guest of the day, who was interviewed by Mario Lopez. My mom & I being tall decided it was best to stand in the very back of the crowd.  It was hard to see & hear everything, but it was cool to see how the actors as so impromptu and how the editing works.  After they wrapped the segment, the producer was arranging the crowd, pulling people from the front, telling bald men to step out of the sun, which blinded their cameras. And then, he points to me and tells me to come to the front.  What!?  I'm so tall, I would block everyone...maybe I misunderstood him and I need to move farther back. No, he wanted me and my mom to stand right smack in front of the camera, just behind Mario Lopez!  Sigh.  Most of the show filmed with us right up front.  It just made my day.  I smiled so much that my mouth was quivering.  We stayed at "Extra" for an hour then ran to grab some lunch before the bus left 30 minutes later.   I had fresh Tabouli and Mediterranean bread which hit the spot for a fresh, yummy lunch on the run. We had fun at the Doctor's taping, but the Farmer's Market was the highlight of our day trip. Below are some photos I took off the TV.

Visiting Family in AZ

Taylor, Arizona

Snow in Arizona?!?  The high's were in the mid 30's and snow covered the ground when we arrived in Taylor, Arizona - approx. 10 hours from Riverside, CA.  Taylor is located in the north-western part of the state, with an elevation of  5800 ft. and a population around 3,200.  This was a fun small town with a lot of rich history of settlers that established the town.  We really enjoyed the small museums and historic houses, bob-sledding (see video), eating good food, playing games with family, and most of all... playing with our 2 1/2 year old nephew, Billy.  It was great to spend time with family, we miss them being so far away.  But we are so happy for them and their new house, which is perfect for them, and will allow Billy to grow up like a true boy, able to play in the beautiful nature.  We look forward to going back to visit soon!
