Ojai

We love to take weekend trips and are always looking for semi-local locations to visit. We saw a special about the hippie town of Ojai, CA and knew we had to explore the little town. I booked the "tree house" room at the Lavender Inn, which was so cute and a perfect feel for the relaxing weekend that we yearned for.

The Inn hosted a beautiful wine and cheese spread - we enjoyed the grounds and appetizers before walking to dinner at The Ojai Beverage Company. If you are a beer enthusiast, like my husband, then this restaurant is a must. They have so many beer options, great food and a really fun atmosphere.

Ojai has a farmer's market every Sunday, with lots of lavender, organic meats nd produce.  This market was next door to our B&B.  We purchased an organic beef brisket and lavender before heading off to shop the local thrift stores.  We met an elderly couple that ran a thrift store from their house, each room had older signs, trinkets and handcrafted woodworks.  They were the sweetest couple that shared photos of their kids, told us all about the town and even offered a home up the road that they thought we should purchase.  We really love the small town feel and hospitality that everyone showed us.

The drive to Ojai is very pretty. We drove up thru Carpinteria to visit Island Brewing Company, which happened to be closed :( We ended up taking in the ocean views and stopped at some look-out points along the way.  We enjoyed all that this weekend getaway brought and highly recommend you to visit Ojai if you haven't yet!
